Hello!
We are the Berkeley Police Association and we're asking for community donations and support for our annual "Turkey Basket" event for Thanksgiving. If you're unfamiliar, the purpose of the event is to provide complete Thanksgiving meals to families in need throughout Berkeley. Families are identified by various organizations that assist the underserved members of our community.
The meals include a whole turkey, sides, bread rolls and a dessert. The baskets are assembled by dozens of volunteers the day before Thanksgiving. Once assembled, the volunteers deliver the baskets to the various organizations throughout Berkeley. Our hope is that families can come together on the holiday to cook and enjoy a special meal.
Last year, we absolutely shattered our previous record of 750 meals. Thanks to support from community stakeholders and Gofundme donations, we were able to provide over 1000 meals! With your support, we hope to reach that record again!
To date, we have never had to say no to a community group that has asked for assistance in providing these meals. The tremendous success of the event is only made possible by donations, support from our community, and our strong partnerships with other organizations. The organizations that we partner with are The Fourth St Business District, Our City Center Church, Oakland Grocery Outlet, Pacific Agri, EP Wealth Advisors, Argonaut Garage, the Berkeley Police Department, and many more.
